Inochi Mijikashi, Koi seyo Furyou Shonen! by Yuka Nijino
Art and story (c) Yuka Nijino |
Genre: Shojo
Length: One Volume - 7 Chapters
The art style is pretty generic, I've read lots of manga in this style, Kitchen Princess came to mind while I read specifically probably because of the main girl's long straight hair. The eyes are large and a little flat, and the hair has no emotion, either. Even the clothes were unremarkable. It's not drawn badly, it just lacks originality. In other words it doesn't draw you in at all.
A delinquent boy is suddenly confronted one day by a strange old man, and told, if he
doesn't go to the side of a certain young lady, he will die. Such a threat is easily dismissed, except accidents keep happening all around him. Now, to avoid a fatal and sudden injury, he must keep the girl in his sights at all times even though they are basically strangers!
I'm going to start out by saying that the translation I had of this manga was terrible, Theat times it was nearly gibberish, but I'm used to that for the most part and can still enjoy the story underneath. That is, unless there is no s redeemable story underneath. This manga, unfortunately is one of those where the premise sounds interesting but the way it is presented is just a bore. Everything is muddy and presented in a confusing jumble. The main characters are basically vague stereotypical shojo character tropes who like one another instantly and then randomly appear next to each other in the rest of the hundred and eighty or so pages due to over dramatic scenarios. Even the few times it's supposed to be humorous, it's too generic to even land the joke because it's been seen a thousand times. I don't even want to get started on the girl's family that is much too crazy to even make shojo sense but are there for one chapter just to try and convince the reader there are other characters in the story. You know what, I'm going to stop before I begin typing in all caps about how boring and ordinary this story was, and how it WASTED MY TIME- oops.
1/5 Maybe I should start giving out zeros...
