:REverSAL by Kemuri Karakara

Feh.

That is all I have to say.

:REverSAL by Kemuri Karakara

Art and story (c) Kemuri Karakara

Genre: Seinen
Length: 2 Volumes – 13 Chapters

The art is pretty generic, its not bad but it's not great. The fantasy element is kind of interesting, but even that is generic when you inspect it closely. The clothes were well done, and the eyes were good to look at. The hair had good shape and movement as well but they are also, you probably guessed it, generic. The backgrounds are also obviously blank. The weapons are blocky and often too large for their users making them just out right silly. The action is overly explained and confusing. Not bad, just not really memorable.
When a geisha in training finds an unusual hand held game and enters her name into the machine, a song starts playing over and over in her head. Meeting up with the young man who dropped the machine to find out what is going on, the two are suddenly whisked away to a world where the streets and the signs are in reverse and the neighborhood is crawling with monsters. The man claims its a game, but it seems awfully real…
Rando cat for rando reasons.
This manga feels like it was canceled or perhaps just plain rushed to end, in any case it doesn't really have much going for it. I've seen lots of people saying they liked it but I honestly don't see any merit in it. The story initially sounds interesting but it's given in the slowest and most boring way possible initially. Then, when the monsters showed up I expected the pacing to pick up, and I it did, but it went too fast. The time line starts to skip or just isn't explained and I lost interest all over again. First too slow and then too fast; there is no time to get to know any of the characters in a way that will keep the interest up. What you are left with is very basic personality tropes and a talking french bulldog. The explanations given are not really helpful in understanding what is going on, either, you get the story but you don't get the details. I'm not really sure what that cat in the beginning is about, either, because the main character actually has a dog the rest of the time. I probably could figure it all out if I cared enough to, but, and it might be obvious by my lackluster review, I don't.

1/5 The worst of sins occurs here, mediocrity.
Hey! No, explain things properly! Why can you talk?
